From Norths to Nationals: Nalita Heads to Bartender of the Year
Norths is proud to announce that Nalita, one of our talented bartenders, has been selected to compete in the 2025 Bartender of the Year National Finals, held as part of Sydney Bar Week.
The competition takes place on Monday 15 September at the Four Pillars Laboratory in Surry Hills and is presented by Vanguard Luxury Brands. It is recognised as one of Australia’s most prestigious industry events, where the nation’s best bartenders are tested across three demanding rounds: a written exam, a cocktail challenge using Four Pillars Gin, and a live final in front of their peers.
Nalita’s passion for cocktails was first sparked here at Norths when she was encouraged to design a cocktail menu. Since then, she has poured her energy into research, practice and creativity, experimenting with techniques such as oil washes and developing flavour combinations that reflect both her own style and her connection to Norths.
“The bourbon cocktail I’m preparing is all about Norths,” Nalita explained. “From the flavour profile to the garnish, I want it to represent where I’ve come from and the support I’ve had along the way.”
Preparation for the competition has included late-night study sessions, building mock exams to prepare for the theory round, and refining her timing for the speed challenge. While the journey has been intense, Nalita describes it as both rewarding and motivating.
“I never imagined I’d be competing at this level,” she said. “It’s nerve-wracking, but I’m proud to be part of it and grateful for the opportunity to represent Norths.”
